Why I joined
I realised while studying at Oxford that I wouldn’t be satisfied with the pace of a career in academia. This led me to establish three key criteria. Firstly, I wanted a career that featured variety, both in the day-to-day tasks at hand and as I progressed. Secondly, to work in a place where my numeracy wouldn’t be wasted; the rigorous approach at Estin guarantees this. Finally, I wanted to work at a boutique sized firm where one’s impact can really be felt – a bonus of this is the constant exposure to different levels within the firm, from partners to fellow consultants and the experience this entails. These three criteria are well suited by strategy consulting at Estin & Co.
Life at the firm
At Estin & Co I’m constantly being challenged by the dynamic environment, and this pushes me to develop as a consultant. The structured nature of teams within a project means that, right from the start, you’re given ownership over a section of the work. This not only makes it more satisfying, but the structure helps with effective transfer of information within the team. The frequent positive interaction with partners and senior consultants makes for a steep learning curve and prevents time being wasted on ‘busy work’. This learning curve is added to by a structured training programme, which in turn makes the progress on a project much more efficient when it needs to be.
The daily job
With each day bringing a fresh challenge, Estin & Co is an enthralling place to work and days fly past. During a project it’s satisfying to see the teams research, analysis and conclusions develop. With these structurally impacting major groups the affect a consultant can have, even from early on in a career, is amazing. This is complemented by a warm and friendly environment in the firm.
